New Stuff...

Trying out CS5... looks flash but haven't found much that wasn't already there. Will keep looking and might do a review.

Finished my website now... www.eddievandorland.co.uk - might look at doing the portfolio page a bit different as it's not the easiest thing to add more work to.

Got to get a new Xbox as mine's died for the 3rd time!! Have been made a good offer though, should have it tomorrow or Monday latest.

Got to go... pub's calling...

I am now available for freelance graphic design & artwork jobs or any full-time placement if there's one going.

Please visit www.eddievandorland.co.uk to see examples of work done. I will be updating regularly and will also make a downloadable PDF of CV and work.

Thanks for now, hope to hear from you soon.

HAPPY 2010!

Been a long time since my last blog… so why not do a New Year one?!?

Is it just me or are more people dumping the Facebook status in favour of Twitter? I’ve found this to be more the case recently. People can share links easier and it’s much easier to use with stand-alone applications such as TweetDeck (http://www.tweetdeck.com/beta/download/). There are many others out there for all platforms but I find this the best.

GoogleWave is also not taking off as well as I thought! I installed it not long after it came out and I received an invitation from a friend, used it for about a week and now have not received a message in months!! I currently have 16 invitations to invite/recommend friends to join… obviously no-one wants them as I have Tweeted and Facebooked the fact!! Come to think of it, after reading this and you wish to receive an invite… email me your email address and I’ll happily send you one.

I will get round to updating my website this year too… HONEST!! I’ve just been very busy over the past few days/months and haven’t really sat down and sank my teeth into it. To be honest I’ve also been too busy playing on the Xbox360, Assassin’s Creed II, Dragon Age: Origins, Borderlands… all are really immense games and take up far too much of your time!!

A couple of friends of mine have recently set-up their own businesses and I would like to wish them all the best for 2010! Here are the links to their websites so please take a look: Mixed Reality - http://www.mixedrealitystudio.com/ and also Ideal Digital - http://www.idealdigital.co.uk/

Not too sure of anything else… except for me to say that I hope 2010 brings everyone what they wish for and deserve! Adios…

It’s been far too long

It’s been far too long; I know… this is also true in life. Visited an old friend from a while back at the weekend, good to catch-up. Life’s too short to leave things like that for so long as many things could happen to prevent this. My advice never put off things that can be done sooner rather than later.

Twitter… now there’s an application I never thought I’d get into. Seemed to me like it was Facebook status as a stand-alone thing… but how wrong could I be?!? Once you delve into it and see that most good websites have a Twitter Follow button on them you get regular up-to-date articles and information alerts as they happen! There have been some fantastic design related ones that I’ve re-tweeted and posted on Facebook too.

Technology still plays a part in my day-to-day moaning! Usual ‘great when it works…’ quoted many times!! I personally think that things are getting too clever for their own good! This affects the product they run on and subsequently causes crashes. There are constantly new products to upgrade to account for this but it comes at a cost and how do you keep up with it? Just when you’ve saved enough to upgrade or buy a new computer/games console/etc. you find out that it’s been superseded and it’s back to square one!

The world of gaming is constantly getting bigger and better; the only thing is… it comes with an even bigger price tag!! This is, in my eyes, slightly unfortunate as some people would love to have all the latest games but can’t afford them. I believe that this is one of the main causes of piracy! The software/games companies claim that their prices must rise to account for piracy losing them sales… I’m no rocket scientist but if they reduce their prices, more people will be able to buy their games, therefore, less piracy!!

More to come when I can think of it and more regularly too…

Until the next time, take care.

Technical Stuff...

Having finally found a spare moment in my busy schedule to get something written, here we go...

I am amazed at what technology there is out there with web viewing, advertising, website building, etc. It's just phenomenal! The possibilities are endless! I a bit of a slow learner when it comes to new stuff, I'm not as young as I used to be!

Google has a wonderful set of tools to get you started in the easiest way, in fact, this blog is hosted by them too! You can learn a vast amount from them - and it's FREE (well, most of it!).

Socialising websites and gadgets are getting better and better too. It's now easier than ever to keep in touch with lots of friends, relatives, colleagues and alike. Whether it be what you're doing, what you're reading, playing or just any comments about anything, it's always nice to see what others are doing - even if it's just sheer nosiness!

I will be receiving more training about all things 'tinterweb' based soon, so here's hoping I'll learn even more.

'til next time...

It's the Weekend...!

Just to say... signing off for the weekend, have a good one all!
